— EDGEWATER • ACTIVE TREATMENT CHANGE

Edgewater water may taste or smell different through approximately October 20

Edgewater is temporarily using free chlorine instead of chloramine from September 29 through approximately October 20, 2026.

Who is affected?

The City’s notice covers Edgewater water customers and Volusia County Southeast Utility customers. It does not cover every water provider in Volusia County.

October 2 boil-water notice was lifted

The City rescinded the separate precautionary boil-water notice on October 4 after required testing showed the affected water met state and federal drinking-water standards. Customers in the previously mapped area may resume normal water use. The rescission does not end the free-chlorine maintenance program. Read the resolved alert → or read the City's rescission ↗.

What customers may notice

The City describes routine distribution-system maintenance and says water continues to meet federal and state drinking-water standards. Some customers may notice a different taste or odor. The chlorine-maintenance announcement itself is not a boil-water notice; the separate October 2 notice was rescinded October 4.

Special uses and utility questions

Dialysis users should ask their care provider about testing and chlorine-removal precautions. Aquarium owners should consult their aquatic supplier about their existing treatment.

For questions, contact Edgewater’s Alan R. Thomas Drinking Water Plant at 386-424-2400, extension 4030.

Confirm the serving utility on your bill. If you lose pressure or an unusual condition persists, contact the utility and check its current notices before assuming scheduled maintenance explains the problem.
