— HIGHLAND BEACH WATER DEPARTMENT • PLANNED TREATMENT CHANGE
Highland Beach plans temporary chloramine treatment October 21–30
Town of Highland Beach Water Department customers will temporarily receive chloramine-treated water instead of the utility's usual free-chlorine treatment from October 21 through October 30 while water-storage tanks undergo routine maintenance.
- The temporary change runs Wednesday, October 21 through Friday, October 30, 2026.
- The direction is free chlorine to chloramine, as stated in both the Town's news notice and its Water Department PDF.
- The Town says the water remains safe to drink. This announcement is not a boil-water notice or a finding of contamination.
- Home dialysis, aquatic-animal systems and inline filters need the special-use checks described below.
Who is affected?
The notice addresses Town of Highland Beach Water Department customers. It does not cover every Boca Raton or Delray Beach address or customers of another provider. Confirm the utility on the current water bill before applying these instructions to a property.
Why is treatment changing?
The Town says routine maintenance of its water-storage tanks requires the temporary modification. Its announcement was posted October 15, 2026; an exact posting time is not displayed. The Town does not publish a separate start or end hour.
What should customers check?
The notice does not predict a particular taste, odor or color change. Avoid attributing a new pressure loss or unusual water condition automatically to this work; contact the utility and check for a separate notice.
- Home dialysis users: contact your physician or medical provider for water-treatment instructions, as the Town directs.
- Fish and other aquatic animals: consult an aquarium professional about treatment appropriate to the temporary disinfectant.
- Inline filters: ask the equipment manufacturer whether precautions or adjustments are needed. Do not assume every filter handles each disinfectant identically.
Where can residents verify the schedule?
Call Highland Beach Water Department at 561-637-2038 for utility questions. The Town lists a notification-call list in its official notice. Follow any extension, change or separate address-specific instruction issued by the Town.

Questions about an existing filter?
Florida Premier Water Systems can help review equipment suitability at a serviceable Highland Beach property. Product selection should match the actual disinfectant, rated performance and household needs. This maintenance notice alone does not establish a need to replace a system, and ordinary home screening does not establish drinking-water safety.
