— FGUA LAKE FAIRWAYS • ACTIVE TEMPORARY CHANGE
Lake Fairways temporarily switches to chloramine during well-electrical repairs
FGUA announced a temporary disinfection change starting October 19 for its Lake Fairways drinking-water system in North Fort Myers. Its notice lists 984 affected customers and system ID PWS-5364040.
Chloramine temporarily replaces free chlorine while well-electrical repairs take the treatment plant offline. The notice does not publish an end date, exact start hour or replacement-supply provider. It is a treatment-change notice, not itself a boil-water instruction.
What customers may notice
FGUA describes possible temporary cloudy or discolored water, air at fixtures and pressure fluctuations. It advises running an affected tap until clear. Contact the utility about persistent changes or loss of service, and follow any separate notice for your address.
Special-use precautions
- Home dialysis: contact your medical provider about disinfectant removal.
- Aquariums: use conditioning appropriate for both free chlorine and chloramine; consult an aquatic specialist.
This applies to FGUA Lake Fairways customers—not all North Fort Myers properties. Questions: 239-543-1005. Ordinary home screening cannot establish microbiological safety.
The change is active with no published finish date. The older Lake Fairways boil-water notice was separately lifted October 2; it is not reinstated by this treatment announcement.
