Dania Beach free-chlorine period reaches its scheduled end

Dania Beach Water Utility's official notice scheduled free-water chlorination through September 27 for customers within the blue area of the City's utility-service map. The City described the maintenance as preventive and said the water remained safe to drink. The scheduled period has ended, but the City has not posted a separate completion notice. This does not establish that every address with a Dania Beach mailing address is served by the City utility; customers should confirm the provider shown on their water bill or the City's service map. This was planned maintenance—not a contamination warning or boil-water notice. Customers with questions may call the City at 954-924-3747.

Tampa's scheduled chlorine treatment period has ended

The Tampa Water Department scheduled its temporary use of chlorine instead of monochloramine through October 5. Hillsborough County's notice says the system was scheduled to return to chloramine disinfection by October 6. The temporary change also covered County water customers in East Lake, Fairview Mobile Home Park, Hershel Heights, Pebble Creek and Seaboard because those neighborhoods receive Tampa-supplied water. This was routine maintenance—not contamination or a boil-water notice. The official notices do not report an extension; customers with a treatment-sensitive use who need confirmation of the current disinfectant should contact their utility directly.

Boca Raton begins two-week free-chlorine maintenance period

City of Boca Raton Utility Services is temporarily using free chlorine instead of chloramine and flushing hydrants through October 11. The City says customers may notice a slight chlorine taste or odor, flowing hydrants, slight discoloration or localized lower pressure. Home dialysis users and people caring for fish or aquatic animals should seek appropriate professional guidance because free chlorine and chloramine require different removal methods. The notice applies to City utility customers—not every address with a Boca Raton mailing address. This is planned maintenance, not a contamination warning or boil-water notice.

Dialysis patients may contact their care provider as a precaution, and fish owners should confirm that their treatment removes chlorine. This is planned system maintenance—not a contamination warning or boil-water notice. The County expects to return to its normal treatment after October 10.

Separate Glades County notice confirms Lake Okeechobee algae toxins

DOH–Glades issued a September 10 health alert after harmful blue-green algae toxins were confirmed in a September 1 Lake Okeechobee sample. The notice does not identify the sampling station, toxin type or concentration, so it cannot be treated as a result for every part of the lake or matched to a named station. Separately, DOH–Palm Beach confirmed toxins at LZ40, L007 and L006 from September 2 samples; blue-green algae was also present at CLV10A and PALMOUT3, where the published notice said toxin testing was underway. Avoid drinking, swimming, wading, personal-watercraft use or contact where blooms are visible; keep pets and livestock away. Do not cook or clean dishes with affected lake water because boiling does not remove algae toxins. These are environmental-water alerts—not warnings about treated household tap water.
